Relatives

Ebon Huntress was taking a break from the daily activities of running Team Rainbow Super Force. Coming from an underground society, she enjoyed being in the open spaces of our world. She often speculated that was why she left her home world to begin with. |

Without any warning, several geysers erupted around her, and soon she found herself drenched in water. Since there was no plumbing in the patio deck that she knew of, Ebon Huntress got up to go locate her teammate Emerald Guardian to see if he could explain the situation. |

Arriving in the lobby of the main hall, Ebon stumbled into Tangerine Mistress who looked like she had just come out of the shower. Tangerine explained that she had experienced a similar occurance while she was working in the garage. |

It wasn't long before Emerald Guardian and Tawny Bimbo ran into the main lobby, also thoroughly soaked. The same thing had happened to Emerald in his lab and Tawny in the kitchen. Emerald explained that it couldn't be a natural occurrence since there were no underground fissures beneath the building, nor were there enough water pipes in all the areas of the building. |

Suddenly, the main hall was bursting with water jets. Water was filling the room so fast that it was starting to flood. Tangerine deduced that if it wasn't natural, then it must be supernatural in origin. Casting a quick spell, she dispelled the geysers. It was then a subtle yet distinct laughter floated across the room. A thin smile formed on Tangerine's face as she cast another spell. |

To everyone's surprise, a mysterious figure appeared, looking very startled and wearing a Team Rainbow uniform. "Oh my!" exclaimed Tawny. "It's the devil." "Even worse," Tangerine smiled. "It's my cousin, Myx!" |

Tangerine Mistress quickly walked over and gave her cousin a warm hug. Ebon Huntress, Emerald Guardian and Tawny Bimbo stood watching nearly speechless. "Cousin?" Emerald and Ebon asked simultaneously. "Why, yes," answered Myx turning to face them. "Myxaire Flontage, at your service. I'm Jan's cousin. Sorry about all the water, but I couldn't resist." "You never could," Tangerine said with a grin. "Mr. Flontage," started Ebon. "Please, call me Myx." "Very well, Myx. I couldn't help notice you are wearing one of our uniforms." "Yes, sorry about that as well. I didn't want to appear out of place in case you had any outside visitors around. However, this suit really isn't my style." |

With a snap of his fingers, Myx was wearing a slightly outlandish suit. "Ah, much better," grinned Myx. "So, Myx, what brings you here?" Tangerine questioned. "Well, the rumor mill back home is that my favorite cousin got hitched. And no one invited me to the ceremony. I am very disappointed." "I didn't even think anyone back home would know." "Oh, they know. You've really did it this time. Your parents have pretty much forbidden anyone in the family from even speaking of it. But you know how much your Aunt Tizaria loves to talk, especially when drunk." "Why would Jan's parents forbid anyone from talking about our wedding?" Tawny asked. "And here's the beautiful mate who stole my cousin's heart. Jan's not told you much about the family I take it. Well, the short version is that Jan and I are pretty much the black sheep of the family. Jan even more so now." "Outcasts?" Emerald inquired. "More like, not talked about and heavily frowned upon. Family is family. Be that as it may, not all families are as fun and loving as others. Speaking of which, who's that hot little number over there?" |

Myx strolled across the lobby where he had spied Choral Blush passing by. Without warning, he reached down and pinched Choral on her behind. "Hey, cutie. What's your name?" Myx grinned as Choral let off a squeal. "Get your hands off my daughter," exclaimed Tangerine angrily. Myx turned to stare at Tangerine completely astonished. "Daughter?" he questioned. "But that can't be. Look how old she is." "Yes, well, there are certain things about her we have been keeping secret." "You're telling me. Your parents don't even know about her. You know the rules, Jan. She's blood." "Don't you even think about it, Myx!" |

"Sorry, Jan," Myx said casting a magical cage around Tangerine Mistress. "You know very well it's one of the oldest laws." Myx grabbed a hold of a startled Choral and two disappeared in a flash. |

Choral opened her eyes to find herself in a strange land seemingly devoid of any substance. The horizon stretched into infinity. "Where are we?" Choral asked nervously. "Home sweet home," Myx replied. "Well, at least as best that can be described to your limited senses. You do know your mother is from another dimension, yes?" "Yes, but not much else." "Well, this used to be a very lively place. Full of anything and everything you could imagine. But that was before our family was put in charge." "Mom is responsible for this?" "Oh, no. If anything, she kept trying to change it back to the way it was. It's her parents that like it this way." "I don't understand," Choral said with a sigh. |

Myx waved his hand and a chair appeared. "Our world, heck our universe, is a very chaotic land," Myx answered sitting down in his chair. "It's not destructive. Well, at least most of the time. Just a bunch of beings going about doing whatever they wanted. The only real problem was those who would leave and journey to other dimensions to cause havoc. Oh sure, it was fun and humorous at first. Then some started letting the activity go to their head. With our powers, well, some civilizations would see us as gods. And after you spend a while being worshipped and feared, you tend to expect to be treated that way all the time. And things would be very different if our family hadn't stepped in and stopped a few powerful individuals from completely taking over." |

"That sounds very noble," responded Choral sitting down in the chair Myx made for her. "My mother helps do the same thing on our world. Why is that a bad thing?" "It isn't. In fact, that is why she came to your world. The problem is she volunteered. Rather enthusiastically. Your mother is practically a princess in our realm. For her to be doing something that commoners strive for, well, it did not make her parents happy, to say the least. However, the real problem is that your mother is very outspoken about her parents. She feels that they have become just like the beings they sought to eliminate. Furthermore, she used to cause problems on purpose. Little things that cause the royal guard to send in the cavalry, so to speak. In addition, well, I used to help. I mean, your mother is right about some things. This place really isn't that fun anymore. Not with her parents ruling things with an iron straightjacket." "So, why did you bring me here?" "It's a bit complicated. But the basics are, so her parents could get a look at you." "Are they here now?" Choral asked looking around nervously. "Come and gone, before you could even notice." "And, am I in any trouble or danger?" "You, no. Your mother, well; if she is, I certainly won't know until it's too late." |

Meanwhile in the lobby of East Side Center , Ebon Mistress and Tawny Bimbo looked on helplessly at Tangerine Mistress, trapped in the cage Myxaire had created. "I wish there was something we could do to help," sighed Tawny. "Is there anyway for you to get out?" Ebon inquired. "Myx and I used to do this to each other all the time. This is a game for him. Breaking his prisons involve figuring out a spell to break the magical puzzle he's placed me in. But he has habits and patterns." |

Tangerine Mistress sat behind the magical bars mumbling for several minutes when all of a sudden, the cage dissolved around her. "Jan, you're free!" exclaimed Tawny as she ran over and hugged her closely. "Piece of cake, Raj darling," Tangerine replied. "Myx was always so predicable." "What will you do now?" Ebon asked. "Simple. Go get my daughter back." "I feel so ashamed. I had completely forgotten about her," Tawny sulked. "Don't worry, Raj. There's no place Myx can hide from me." |

Not far away, Myx and Choral returned to Pleasantview and began strolling together in a nearby park. "I still don't understand why you brought me to your world, Myx," Choral mused. "You're family," Myx replied gleefully. "You might not be the same type of beings we are, but you are still family. And family members cannot remain secret. It is one of our oldest laws. Even before our family took control." |

Myx escorted Choral to a nearby bench and gestured for her to sit down next to him. "It mainly has to do with lineage and where we all come from," explained Myx. "And although your grandparents may not ever speak to you, they must acknowledge you. Some beings come from bad sources, and as such are always tainted in the family lines. However, rest assured, your family line is one of the noblest. This may be part of the problem. With a line too pure, it may taint itself. But now we have you, and you may be our family's salvation." |

"That seems like a lot to burden someone with," remarked Choral. "I don't see how I could be the salvation for our family, much less an entire race." "I wouldn't worry your pretty little head about it," Myx assured as he put his arm around Choral. "You may not even have to do anything. Just that you exist is all that matters now. You are a part of our family. I can even see some of the traits in you right now. You are going to grow up as beautiful and attractive as your mother is. You certainly are very beautiful now." |

"Myx!" Tangerine shouted suddenly appearing in front of them. "Get your hands off my daughter." "Jan, you know I had to do it," answered an astonished Myx. "There's no point in getting overly excited about it. Besides you got free." "You think I am worried about being in one of your silly cages? I'll show you a cage." |

Tangerine Mistress made a couple of quick gestures and Myxaire suddenly found himself trapped inside a large red translucent cage. "Jan, what are you doing?" Myx gasped in bewilderment. "This is a banishment cage. You know I can't get out of this." |

"That's the idea," Tangerine grinned. "I told you before to stay away from my daughter, but you wouldn't listen. So I'm just going to have to banish you." With a few more gestures, flames erupted around Myxaire's prison. "Banishment? Jan how could you! We've been closer to each other than anyone else in the family." "That's right, Myx. Nevertheless, you were getting too close to my daughter. I warned you to keep away, so now I will just have to send you away, forever." |

"Getting too close to your daughter?" Myx cringed. "No wait! It's not like that at all. I would never do anything like that. Please, Jan, you've got to believe me." "I know you too well, Myx. You can't help yourself." "That's not true, Jan. I've changed. Please don't banish me!" |

With a sudden wave of her hand, the fires and prison that held Myx captive disappeared. Myx looked around confused and bewildered, when Tangerine Mistress began to laugh softly . "I got you, Myx," Tangerine laughed. |

A couple seconds passed while Myx stood there with his mouth wide open. Then a smile formed and he began to laugh along with Tangerine Mistress. It wasn't long before they were both laughing so loud they nearly fell over. "Wow, Jan, you've still got it," laughed Myx wiping his forehead. "You should have checked to see if the prison was real, Myx," Tangerine laughed. "You should know I would never use a real banishment cage on you. You always were so gullible." |

Back at East Side Center, Tangerine Mistress gave her favorite cousin a hearty hug good-bye. "You should come back from time to time, Jan," Myx suggested. "And bring the whole family. I have a feeling things are going to be changing again soon." "Maybe one day soon, Myx," Tangerine agreed. "But for now, there is still plenty of work for me to do here." |

Then Tangerine Mistress got in close to Myx and whispered in his ear. "By the way, if I ever find you doing anything with my daughter, next time I will use the real thing. Now be a good boy, smile, wave bye to everyone, and disappear back home." |

Composing himself, Myx gave a short nod to everyone, and with a wave vanished from the room. |

With the excitement over, everyone went back to what they were doing before this strange encounter. And for Ebon Huntress, that meant heading back to the balcony to relax in what sunlight the day had left. So concludes the eleventh chapter of Team Rainbow Super Force.
